The Yankees were smarting after Monday’s action splitting a 4 game home series with the low salaried Kansas City Royals. The Bronx Bombers sit at a 32-32 record through 64 games and in last place in the AL East. Righty Darrell Rasner has pitched in tough luck dropping his last 3 decisions and getting no run support. The Yanks bats put up just 1 run in each of his last 3 starts and Rasner has deserved better fate. The Yankee right-hander has given up 2 runs or less in 5 of his 6 starts, sits with an ERA of 2.58 and sits with a record of 3-3. Good numbers deceiving record. Duchsherer has pitched brilliantly for the A’s giving up 3 runs or less in all 9 starts and 2 or less in 8 of those 9. Both starts have WHIP’s around 1. WHIP measures walks and hits to innings pitched. You hear this number in Fantasy leagues but its also important in my world. Low WHIP means you don’t give up baserunners and when you don’t give up base runners you don’t give up big innings. Play this one under 8 ½ runs.
