Winning 3 of 4 games against Baltimore over the weekend helped the Red Sox turn around what had been a horrible 1-5 start to their road trip. The news is bad on DH David Ortiz as he has been placed on the 15 day disabled list with a torn tendon in his left wrist. Josh Beckett pitched well over his last 2 starts giving up just 4 runs over 13 innings of work. The big right-hander had a 13-strikeout game against Tampa Bay on April 27th limiting the Rays to just 1 earned run. Edwin Jackson sports a decent ERA at 3.70 but is giving up about 2 base runners per inning over his last 3 starts. His control has been an issue allowing 11 walks in 16 1/3rd innings of work. The Red Sox swept Tampa in their series at Fenway in early May scoring 26 runs in 3 games against Ray’s pitching. Manny Ramirez most likely will move to DH improving the Red Sox defense. The Red Sox hitters sport success against Jackson and Jackson’s control of late makes him bad bet in Fenway against Beckett. Play Boston –150.
