LSU lost their starting quarterback as Ryan Perrilloux [pear-ill-lou] was dismissed from the program after failing a drug test. The talented 6-foot-3-inch quarterback’s career at LSU was marred with disciplinary problems and a criminal investigation for counterfeiting. Perrilloux backed-up starter Matt Flynn last season, and the troubled Q-B started the SEC Championship game in place of an injured Flynn and led the Tigers to a 21-14 victory over Tennessee. The victory catapulted the LSU Tigers to the BCS Championship game.
Coach Miles now must develop a starter for the 2008 season for the defending National Champions. The two options are sophomore Jarrett Lee and junior Harvard-transfer Andre Hatch. WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has reported that sophomore Jarrett Lee is the frontrunner. However, neither players have the playmaking skills of Perriloux. WBRZ also reported that we might see a 2-quarterback system this season. Miles will evaluate his 2 young quarterbacks strengths and weaknesses and may play both.
