Ian Kennedy has struggled for the Yankees this season and his numbers are ugly. In 3 starts he hasn't gotten out of the third inning in two of them. He has given up 13 earned runs, 18 hits and walked 11 batters in just 11 innings pitched as a starter. Yankee Chairman Hank Steinbrenner is placing pressure on management to insert Joba Chamberlain into the starting rotation but so far General Manager Brian Cashman has stood his ground to keep the young righty in the bullpen. Jeremy Sowers comes up from Triple A Buffalo to get the start after right-hander Jake Westbrook hit the AL earlier in the week. Sowers got pounded last year as opposing teams hit .308 and his ERA was 6.42 in 13 starts. In 1 start versus the Yankees last season Sowers gave up 6 runs and 9 hits in just 2 2/3rd's innings. The Yankees offense is getting off and Cleveland will get runs off Kennedy. Play over 10 ½ runs.
