The Wizards begin their 5 game 7-day road trip with a stop in Portland. Heading into Friday’s action the Wizards are 3-1 straight up with the return of Caron Butler to the Wizards lineup. Antawn Jamison has picked it up offensively for the Wizards averaging 30 points and 10 rebounds in his last 10 games heading into last Friday’s action. 7 footer Brendon Hayword and Antawn Jamsion will force the Trailblazers into a jump shooting team in this game as I give the Wizards the edge down low. Portland has fallen out of contention for a spot in the Western Conference playoffs going 7-13 in their last 20 games heading into last Friday’s action. Portland is playing defensively like a non contender on the defensive end giving up 49% of better shooting in 3 of their last 4 games. Portland is in a bad spot here playing their 4th game in 5 nights and are in a back end of a back to back. Washington will bring energy into this game with their good low post players. A troubling sign here was how well Shaq played against Portland, as he was a force down low going 7-9 and 14 rebounds. Also helping the cause with the Wizards is the fact that the Trailblazers are in the bottom half of the league in rebounding. I don’t like Portland here who most likely will rely on jump shooting and that’s not a good thing on a back to back in your 4th game in 5 nights. Take Washington +4.
