The Month of March has been intensive as the Spurs enjoyed two days rest for the only time this month prior to their game with the Bulls and the Spurs benefited with a good defensive effort. San Antonio broke a 4 game losing streak with a 22-point victory over Chicago on Thursday playing limiting the Bulls to 80 points on 37% shooting. I felt the Spurs recent slump could be attributive to the NBA schedule makers as the Spurs played in 4 back to back series in the first 15 days of March. That was a very tough stretch for the older Spurs legs and it was no surprise to me that the team slumped in that stretch and the team welcomed the rest after their game with Boston. Dallas is a loser of 2 in a row and it must be noted that the Mavericks have not beaten a Western Conference playoff contender since acquiring Jason Kidd. The Spurs seemed to be more conformable now resorting back to their starting lineup used in last year’s postseason as Manu Ginobili and Kurt Thomas have been relegated to the bench giving the Spurs scoring off their bench. The Maverics are trying to remain positive during a disappointing loss against Boston blowing a 7 point lead in the 4th quarter as Kidd went 1 of 8 from the field in losing. I like the Spurs +3 in this contest as the Spurs defense will be solid in this game and the Mavericks haven’t shown the ability to beat a Western Conference playoff contender since acquiring Jason Kidd.
